Son of Sardaar follows the story of a 15-year-old son of an NRI (non-resident Indian) who falls in love with his teacher while taking lessons from her. Meetha is the daughter of a famous wrestler and quite popular with boys, but she chooses to teach at a village school for underprivileged kids. Jaggu is the headstrong son of an NRI and doesn't pay heed to his father's wishes to pursue his studies in London and instead wants to learn wrestling from his teacher's dad. While Meetha is trying to instill some discipline in Jaggu, he falls in love with her and confesses this love after his father passes away. Now to save his teacher from his father's wrath, Jaggu tries to get her to marry him, but she appreciates all he does for her and invites him to live with her as husband and son. The rest of the story is about the love they share as their village grows.The film features songs composed by Rajiv Chawla and lyrics penned by Nitin Trikha, Nitin Trikha, Daler Sankhonkar and Rajiv Chawla. The film was produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Sandip Ray under the banner "T-Series". It was released on 13 May 2012 opening at number one at box office. It went on to make a platinum disc. It was remade in Bengali as "Pita" by Subhash Ghai with Shakib Khan and Koel Mallick.
